BOI SIP Calculator
About the BOI SIP Calculator
The BOI SIP calculator is a free online tool that helps you estimate the maturity value of a Systematic Investment Plan linked to Bank of India mutual fund schemes. You only need to enter three things: your monthly investment amount, the number of years you plan to stay invested, and the annual return rate you expect. The calculator instantly shows your total invested amount, estimated returns, and the final value of your investment at the end of the tenure.
Bank of India (BOI) mutual funds are managed by Bank of India Investment Managers and include equity, hybrid, and debt schemes. Whether you invest in a BOI flexi cap fund, a mid cap fund, or a debt scheme, every SIP works on the same compounding principle. This calculator applies that principle so you can plan your goal before you commit a single rupee.
What is a SIP Calculator?
A SIP calculator is a simple tool that gives you an idea of the returns on your mutual fund investments made through a Systematic Investment Plan. A SIP means investing a fixed sum at regular intervals, usually monthly. Since the amount stays the same month after month, it builds a saving habit and removes the stress of guessing when to enter the market.
Keep in mind that a SIP calculator only provides an estimate. Actual returns depend on market movements, the expense ratio, and the exit load of the scheme you choose. The calculator does not model these factors, but the estimate is still very useful for planning.
How Does the BOI SIP Calculator Work?
The calculator works on the standard SIP maturity formula:
M = P x ({[1 + i]^n - 1} / i) x (1 + i)
In this formula:
- M is the amount you receive on maturity.
- P is the amount you invest every month.
- i is the periodic monthly rate of return.
- n is the total number of monthly payments.
Example: Suppose you invest Rs. 5,000 per month for 10 years at an expected return of 12% per year. The monthly rate used here is 12% divided by 12, which is 1% (0.01). With n = 120 payments, the calculator shows:
- Total invested amount: Rs. 6,00,000
- Estimated returns: Rs. 5,61,695
- Estimated maturity value: Rs. 11,61,695, which is about Rs. 11.62 lakh
Note that this calculator divides the annual rate by 12 to get the monthly rate. Some calculators instead convert the annual return into an effective monthly rate first (about 0.95% for a 12% annual return), which shows a slightly lower maturity value of about Rs. 11.20 lakh for the same investment. Both approaches are estimates, and actual market returns will differ.
Year by year growth for Rs. 5,000 monthly SIP at 12% expected return
| Tenure | Total Invested | Estimated Value |
|---|---|---|
| 5 years | Rs. 3,00,000 | Rs. 4,12,432 |
| 10 years | Rs. 6,00,000 | Rs. 11,61,695 |
| 15 years | Rs. 9,00,000 | Rs. 25,22,880 |
| 20 years | Rs. 12,00,000 | Rs. 49,95,741 |

FAQs about the BOI SIP Calculator
Most Bank of India mutual fund schemes accept SIPs starting from Rs. 500 per month, and a few schemes allow even Rs. 100. Check the scheme information document of the specific fund for the exact minimum.
For equity schemes, investors commonly use 10% to 12% per year, which is close to the long term historical average of diversified equity funds. For debt schemes, a rate between 6% and 8% is more realistic. You can try several rates to see a range of outcomes.
No. SIP investments are market linked and their returns vary with market conditions. The BOI SIP calculator gives an estimate based on a constant assumed return, and actual results can be higher or lower.
Yes. You can increase the amount through a top up or step up SIP, pause it, or stop it any time. Mutual funds do not lock your money into a fixed SIP schedule.
For equity funds, gains on units held for more than 12 months are long term and taxed at 12.5% beyond the Rs. 1.25 lakh annual exemption, while gains within 12 months are taxed at 20%. Gains from debt funds are added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Tax rules can change, so verify current rates before filing.
